AGE OF THE FARMER
In the summer of 2015, filmmaker Spencer MacDonald joined me to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest to produce a short film on young farmers. This film is an attempt to express some of the thoughts and feelings of the young farmers that we stayed with. This video accompanies the photo project the age of the farmer.

THOUSAND HILLS OF HOPE
Imana Truyers was born in Rwanda right before the genocide broke out in 1994, from a Hutu father and Tutsi mother. Through a series of fortuitous events and thanks to a Belgian nun, she was able to make it out of the country alive and was adopted into a Belgian family right before chaos ensued.
She returned back to her home country for the first time in 2015, where she was able to see her family and the life that she almost had.
She now runs an NGO called Thousand Hills of Hope, which supports medical and schooling projects throughout Rwanda. To learn more about her organization and to contribute, please visit thousandhillsofhope.be.

In March of 2016, Spencer MacDonald and I traveled to the highlands of the Kenyan Rift Valley to film and photograph running culture for Golazo. We stayed in the family homes of some of these athletes, and documented their daily lives as they prepared for international competition.
People often wonder what makes Kenyan runners among the best in the world. In preparation for this project, we came across many different opinions on this; ranging from diet, to genetics, to initiation ceremonies. However, working on this project directly with the athletes gave us different answers. This film is an attempt to provide an experiential journey through Kenyan running culture. Special thanks to all of those that we stayed or spent time with. Your warmth and hospitality will always remain with us.
Conservation Generation is a new short film by the National Young Farmers Coalition that offers a look into the lives of four young farmers and ranchers in the arid West. Despite contending with the impacts of historic drought, climate change, and increased competition for water, the film’s farmers are each committed to their communities and to finding innovative solutions to water shortages.
